The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is among the bodies of the Philippine government tasked to care for the welfare of Filipinos. Other than this, they also hold different opportunities like scholarships and job offers to those who want to be involved with them.

DSWD Educational Assistance

In this article, we will be guiding everyone interested in applying for the DSWD educational assistance program. There is an ongoing call done by the DSWD — so here are the things you need to know if you qualify for the program and also how you can apply for it.

What is the DSWD Educational Assistance Program?

The DSWD educational assistance program is financial aid for the education of certain people of eligibility. Back in March of 2018, they clarified that they are not offering a scholarship; they’re offering educational assistance for indigent and other qualified students.

Who can apply for DSWD’s educational assistance program?

The announcement from DSWD Sec. Erwin Tulfo states that the people qualified to avail of the DSWD educational assistance program are the following:

  • Breadwinner
  • Working student
  • Has no family/Living with relative
  • Child of a solo parent
  • Has parents with no source of living
  • Child of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs)
  • Children of Persons With Disabilities (PWDs)
  • Children of HIV victims
  • Victims of Domestic Abuse
  • Victims of natural disasters

Every three children of a family are qualified to apply and register for the DSWD educational assistance program. Of course, telling the DSWD of their situation won’t seem fit — they would have to present requirements for the department to validate and authorize their application.

Which students can apply?

As per the announcement, it said that elementary or grade school students, high school students, and vocational/college level students can apply for the DSWD educational assistance program.

“Magsisimula ang Educational Assistance payout sa ika-20 ng Agosto 2022 at sa mga susunod na Sabado — Agosto 27, Setyembre 3, 10, 17 at 24,” Sec. E. Tulfo said in a Facebook post.

How much will interested applicants get?

To all parents and students who are inquiring about how much they’re going to get, elementary students will receive P1,000; P2,000 for high school students; P3,000 for Senior High School, and last but not least vocational/college level students will receive P4,000.
